Emmanuel is the Roman name for Immanuel, which is Hebrew, meaning "GOD WITH US". Note: All Biblical references are in NIV unless stated differently. John 1:1 -3 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. 2- He was with God in the beginning. 3- Through him all things were made, without him nothing was made that has been made."
John 1:14 "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
1- John tells us that the Word is Jesus, the Son of the Father. 2- He (Jesus) was in the beginning with God.3- Jesus IS GOD.4- He (Jesus) made EVERYTHING. a- Colossians 1:15-17 "15The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."
This tells us that ALL things were made by Jesus... All things in the heavens and on earth. ALL THINGS.. All people, all angels, everything.
(Going down a rabbit hole for a minute) - The words "firstborn over all creation" refer to status, not time of birth. I found this to help clear this up. " We find in Scripture a further meaning of the term prototokos. Since the Greek word protos can mean either first in time or first in rank, the “firstborn” may be used to designate one who is honored with first or chief position, regardless of time of birth. This can be seen in Exodus 4:22, where God commands Moses to tell Pharaoh, “This is what Jehovah says: Israel is my firstborn son. . . . Let my son go, so he may worship me.” Clearly, here the word prototokos has nothing to do with precedence in time, but rather precedence in rank among the nations, as God views their relative importance." Okay- back up from the rabbit hole...
We just have to read the text to get what it is saying. Love how clear the scriptures can be. The gospels teach of Jesus Christ. How he came to save us of our sins. How he died for our sins on the cross (Not in Gethsemane) .. The debt for our sins was the greatest gift given to us when Jesus stated on the cross, "It is finished".
The Bible teaches us in many places that we need to accept Jesus, confess his name and believe in our hearts that he was resurrected from the dead.... and THAT ALONE will save us.
Once we take that step, we become a new person. Believe me, I know this to be true... You no longer want to do anything against God. It's an AMAZING feeling. Your love for Jesus increases and you begin to know him in ways you never thought possible before.
DO YOU BELIEVE IN THE JESUS THAT IS IN THE BIBLE?
If not..... it is my prayer that you will get to know him and love him...
The Bible continues to teach...
The apostle Paul taught to the Galatians, just a short time after he had taught them the true gospel of grace and Jesus...
Galatians 1:6-12 6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!10Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
11I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. 12I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.
Letting them know there will be those who will teach them another gospel, not of grace.
And--- that there will be those who will teach them of ANOTHER JESUS than Him found in the Bible and his teachings...
1 Corinthians 11:3-43But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.
With this in mind.... Let's take a look at those who CLAIM to be Prophets and apostles of God... and see DO THEY TEACH A DIFFERENT JESUS?!
1- "In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints 'do not believe in the traditional Christ.' 'No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times. He together with His Father, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages.'" (LDS Church News Week ending June 20, 1998, p. 7).2- As a Church we have critics, many of them. They say we do not believe in the traditional Christ of Christianity. There is some substance to what they say. Our faith, our knowledge is not based on ancient tradition, the creeds which came of a finite understanding and out of the almost infinite discussions of men trying to arrive at a definition of the risen Christ. Our faith, our knowledge comes of the witness of a prophet in this dispensation who saw before him the great God of the universe and His Beloved Son, the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ. https://Lds.org/general-conference/2002/04/we-look-to Christ?lang=eng3- Seventy Bernard Brockbank stated in a general conference,“It is true that many of the Christian churches worship a different Jesus Christ than is worshipped by the Mormons or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” (Bernard P. Brockbank, “The Living Christ,” Ensign (Conference Edition), May 1977, p. 26).“Then if any man shall say unto you, ‘Lo, here is Christ,’ or ‘There;’ believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” (Matthew 24:23-24.)And again, from the Gospel of Mark: “And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ;’ or, ‘Lo, he is there;’ believe him not. For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed; behold, I have foretold you all things. (Mark 13:21-23.)Paul, in speaking to the Corinthians, said, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.(2 Corinthians 11:3-4.)And Paul continues in verses 13-15, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
I pray that you will search and find the real Jesus of the Bible. He is the real Jesus... the ONLY way back to God, our Father.
